project management skills alone are not enough. There must be understanding before subcontractors are approached.

Course Contents and Time Table
On completion of the course you will have gained an understanding of the principles of managing and specifying
microcontroller projects. You will have explored in depth the short and logn term strategic issues.
This is a flexible and interactive course. It will be predominantly presentation supported by discussions to underpin the
principles for a successful microcontroller project.

- The adoption of microcontroller technology, subcontract versus in-house design, immediate and long term issues.
- Choosing subcontractors for hardware and software design.
- Choice of development systems and languages.
The Project Plan:
- Defining the project.
- Working up a project plan.
- Documentation Procedures.
- Executing the plan, responsibilities and resources.
- Reviewing the plan.
- Risk reduction.
Interfacing with Subcontractors:
- Specifications, functional description and test procedures.
Specification:
- The essential knowledge required to ensure effective dealings with subcontractors.
- Hardware / Software partitioning.
- Software Engineering principles.
